Why do I need to install Firefox ActiveX plugin? Will it allow ActiveX controls to damage my computer?
In order to support all MobiTV features, we need to run Windows Media Player ActiveX control in Firefox. ActiveX controls are Windows programs that may be exploited to install viruses, adware, spyware, and the like. The power of ActiveX can be a big security risk. Firefox does not come with ActiveX support installed. That’s why ActiveX plugin is needed. The plugin comes pre-configured to only run the Windows Media Player ActiveX controls. It will not impose any security risk to your computer. However, if you had Adblock extension installed, you must make sure that Adblock Options: Obj-Tabs is disabled. Otherwise, your system will run almost any ActiveX control. To verify the configuration, go to Firefox menu Tools, select Add-ons. There should be no check mark next to Obj-Tabs.
