Why do I need an NCAS number as well as an ascta number?
ascta serves as the administrator of the National Coach Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) on behalf of SAL. Under the current coach licence system, which is approved by the Australian Sports Commission, coaches must be suitably qualified under the NCAS and they must be members of a professional membership organisation (ascta is such an organisation). This ensures that coaches are subject to ‘Member Protection Policies’ and professional standards requirements. This is why you are required to have both a current NCAS qualification (renewed on a four year cycle) and a current ascta membership (renewed each financial year).
