Why do i like the feeling of cutting myself?

Hi. People self harm for many reasons. It is very common for women who struggle with bulimia to also struggle with urges to cut since the reasons behind both are often similar (and they are not always because you don’t like the way your body looks). Some people cut because it relieves anxiety or it expresses emotional pain that you have trouble expressing in healthier ways or feel you cannot bear. Others cut because it gives them a sense of control over their emotions. Cutting releases a chemical into your body called “endorphins” that makes you feel better, and relieves some of the emotional pain, but it doesn’t really fix the problem. You can get a similar rush of endorphins from exercise. Healing from self harm and eating disorders takes time. There are often many underlying issues and experiences that are hard to work through and sometimes things get worse before they get better. I encourage you to keep seeing your psychologist and be open about your urges to self harm with him/her
