Why do I have to create an account on almost every website i visit just to view its contents?

Bug Me Not is a site that has generic logins for hundreds of web sites. If they ask you to create an account you can usually find one on Bug Me Not by typing in the address of the site you’re trying to go to, and they’ll give you a login to use. Obviously if it’s a site where you want to purchase something or that allows you to personalize your settings, this would not be a good idea as you share the login with the whole internet, but for a lot of sites it is really helpful. But, sites do this so that they can market products to you. They can track your usage of the site, possibly sell your information to other companies if they aren’t very nice, etc. Sometimes they just do it so you can customize a site, such as Facebook or MySpace. A site like that would be mostly pointless if you didn’t have an account there to use the features.
