Why do I have sometimes problems with plugs/ fil on Truck and OTR Tires?
There are several failure sources leading to this problem. Make sure that you use the correct buffing shapes and angles as described in our Repair manuals. Maintain the right speed of the buffing motor, no more than 4500 rpm for buffing tools. Otherwise the buffing surface might get scorched or too smooth. Use the right buffing tool for the surface to prepare. For rubber on the tire outside Tip Top recommends for truck tires 18 grit and for OTR tires 14 to 18 grit tools. A grit too fine or too coarse may also lead to premature Plug failure. It is also important to use the appropriate Curing solution in order to provide an optimum bond between the buffed surface/steelcord and the new rubber filling. Rema Tip Top recommends the MTR Curing solution with an exceptionally good bond between raw rubber and steelcord.
