If the sound option is greyed out in the control panel the computer does not recognize the sound card/chip in the computer, OR, you have selected a different kind of sound device from what is installed. Go into the control panel and select Sounds and under the Audio tab select the default device to be the chip in your laptop. Next, go to Toshiba and download the audio drivers for your computer and install them. If your hardware is OK you should then have sound. P.S. If you messed with the audio settings in the volume control, make sure you have not muted the sound card.
