Why do I get an email bounce notification when trying to set my return address in Google Mail?

If the email address you are trying to use as your return address forwards to another address (e.g. you are trying to set your @u.washington.edu address but it forwards to your UW Outlook Live account which uses user@ms.uw.edu), the notification email that Google sends out will be returned to you because it was “forwarded more than the maximum allowed times.” The solution is to change your email forwarding, at least temporarily, to your UW Email account or your UW Google Email account. You can update your UW email forwarding on the Manage UW NetID pages.
