Why do I get a startup error when I load the OfficeReady Add-in for Word?
A. In a rare number of instances, Word and Excel will generate a startup error when the OfficeReady add-ins are loaded. This typically indicates a faulty installation of Office. Perhaps, the easiest remedy is to remove the add-ins and access the templates through the File | New menu option. Very rarely, the VBA dll may be faulty. In this case, the symptom is that the templates do not initialize properly when opened. The solution is to uninstall and then re-install Office. In Word, the Normal.dot template (which is the default template in Word) is occasionally very large, possibly as a result of storing a photo in it. This will sometimes interfere with OfficeReady (or any add-in) loading. The solution is to exit Word, delete the Normal.dot and start Word again. Word creates another default Normal.dot and functions properly.
