Why do I get a “No Dialtone” message when I try to dial out with my modem?
The list below shows the most common things to check when you get a “No Dialtone” error message: • The telephone cord is not correctly plugged into either the telephone or the telephone wall jack. • The telephone cord being used may be defective. • Another telephone is currently being used on the same telephone line. • Fautly telephones, fax machines, answering machines, splitters, and couplers can cause no dial tone errors to occur. • There may be a problem with your telephone line. Try a known good line for a dial tone. • Your telephone service may offer a custom option that interferes with the modem operation. Check your custom option package features for incompatibility. • Your modem may not recognize the dial-tone if the country code is not properly set. • Your modem may have been damaged by a recent electrical surge through the telephone line.
