Why do I get a message saying “The message doesn exist” when using one of the CompuServe news servers, or when using news.compuserve.com as the news server?
We have had other reports of information not being downloaded on the CompuServe news servers. This is due to the over-crowding that is occurring on the CompuServe news servers as well as the fact that the CompuServe news servers are not closely linked to each other. In other words, information that appears on one server may or may not eventually make it to the other servers. The best advice we can offer is to experiment among the CompuServe IP addresses until you find the one that works best for you. Here is a list of known CompuServe IP addresses (several of these were provided to us by our users). These are new (to us) as of February 28th. They may or may not be ‘modem pools’. We haven’t tested them. If these still don’t work reliably for you, you may want to get a new Internet Service Provider (ISP) UPDATE: November 17, 1999 The Compuserve upgrade mentioned above should have eliminated this problem as well.
