Why do Hot Air Balloons fly only early in the morning or late in the afternoon?
Despite the intimidating size, balloons are very gentle aircraft, indeed they are sometimes referred to as Gentle Giants. Balloons need fair weather for flying, with light winds and stable air. These conditions are most often found in the first few hours after sunrise and the last few hours of daylight before sunset.
