Once you discover all the possible genetic problems a dog can develop in the 15+ years they are alive, like hip dysplasia, eye diseases, thyroid problems, inheritable skin irritations, and patellas that fall out of joint… you realize the benefit of purchasing a puppy from parents that have been tested for these inheritable disorders. Availability of information on previous generation(s) gives confidence that you are getting a pet that has truly been bred with a focus on health and disposition.
