Why do Harrietstown and Saranac Lake need a new comprehensive plan?
As times and community circumstances change, new planning documents are needed to help communities adapt to these changes. Currently, the village and town are using plans that were developed decades ago Harrietstowns is over 40 years old. This can be a real problem — for example, neither plan addresses the issue of cell phone towers because they did not exist when the plans were written. A new comprehensive plan offers the opportunity to better account for modern issues and concerns, and reflect the spirit of the community.
