Because of their hard hooves, a Guide Horse can slip on slick surfaces such as hardwood floors and waxed floors of stores and shopping malls. Just as guide dogs wear shoes to provide their paws from abrasion, hot pavement, rocks and glass, the Guide Horse may also wear shoes.
