Colour clashes don’t happen very often so the clubs didn’t use their 2nd strip much therefore there wasn’t a lot of call for the 2nd strip from the fans, nowadays with having an official 2nd strip for all away matches clubs do sell more and if their away strip clashes with the home team, hey presto a 3rd strip and more cash.
