Why do films that aren particularly new releases appear in the top 100?
Good question! Just like in your local record store, iTunes may temporarily offer older albums and films at a reduced price. Just like in any high street store, sale items are promoted heavily and sell in large numbers. There are occasional films that get a renewed lease of life because they become relevant – when a re-make of an older film is released for example, the older film may be subject to a spike of public interest, but price reductions are the main reason.
