Why do ferrets smell really bad at pet stores?
Well, ferrets have scent glads, this makes them smell. The scent glands that can get removed are usually removed by the breeder at the same time they are spayed or neutered. But there are scent glads that can not be removed, those are on the face and head. What you are smelling though, when you go to the pet store is a multitude of ferrets together. Your ferret will smell, but not as bad as the cage, since you will only get 1 or 2 ferrets. If the smell bothers you, either buy a female (they don’t smell as much or as muskie as males) or don’t get one. The females smell less, but they still smell. If you give your ferret a bath and clean the cage once a week, you should be fine. You should clean the litter box everyday… If you are a teen, I don’t suggest getting a ferret, they are A LOT of upkeep, even more so than a dog. They need to be trained correctly, cleaned all the time and watched. Ferrets have a lot of “accidents” because they eat more than their body weight and can’t wait aro
