Why do energy efficient light bulbs contain poison?

0

There are many things in your home that contain poison. Antibacterial soap has a fungicide which can be toxic. Bleach and ammonia are both toxic chemicals and mixed together are extremely lethal. Batteries contain acid, computers contain lead, mercury and dozens more hazardous chemicals. We have lived with fluorescent lights for over 50 years and I’ve never heard of anyone getting mercury poisoning. You have a higher risk of lung damage from the bleach in most bathroom cleaners than mercury poisoning from a light bulb. You don’t need a hazmat team to clean up a spill, but you shouldn’t touch it with your bare skin and you need to air out the room for about 15 minutes. I don’t know where you heard that they take more energy to make or that they burn out faster. Both statements are false. They are also fully recyclable and since they contain mercury more people are recycling them instead of putting them into the garbage.
