Why do drive up ATM machines have braille lettering?

1

It’s because the ATM machine is a standard device. Most manufacturers only make one kind of machine. The machines are deployed everywhere, including drive-in locations (but also including places inaccessible to cars). It’s all about reducing manufacturing costs by reducing the number of different designs that the companies have to make.

i always wondered this myself, i was told that all atm machines are manufactured the same and the drive up ones are constructed the same as the walk up ones so the keys all have braille on them. besides, i guess there’s a chance a drive up one could allow for a blind person to get out of the car and make their own private transaction.
