Why Do Dogs Chew Clothes?
The family dog brings joy, love, and laughter to the home. Our adoring pets can display behaviors, however, that do not always bring about delight. One such example is inappropriate chewing. This behavior can encompass gnawing on household items such as throw rugs, furniture, pillows, and remote controls. Dogs also seem to be drawn to items of apparel such as socks, shirts, and underwear. As endearing as this may be to some owners, it is a destructive act which should be readily curtailed. It may appear that dogs chew on articles of clothing to feel closer to their owners; it is a way they can show us their loving affection and fondness. In actuality, this behavior is often brought about by separation anxiety. Very often, dog breeders need to reduce the stress of weaning puppies from their mothers.
