none of my dogs ever barked at the vacuum cleaner maybe your dog thinks the vacuum cleaner is trying to hurt you or maybe you chase your dog around with the vacuum :0)

Dogs will bark at things that intimidate or scare them. They either have had a bad experience with a vacuum cleaner or they are just afraid of the unknown and/or loud/weird sounds. It just like humans being passed by a semi truck – its loud, big and scary.

Because they don’t know what it is and it’s loud so they get scared or frightened and will bark at it.
