Why do doctors of Chiropractic place so much emphasis on vertebrae?
Recent medical studies have confirmed that vertebrae – the bones that comprise the spine – play a key role in maintaining health – a fact that doctors of Chiropractic have known all along. Vertebral problems can be at the root of many conditions, such as asthma, stomach ulcers, digestive problems, etc. One may even go as far as saying that the vertebra is the body’s true Achilles heel. The vertebrae’s vulnerability comes from their very function: protecting the very fragile bone marrow, while allowing for movement of the spine. As a result compressions do frequently occur, thus creating interferences in the nervous system and eventually resulting in pain.
