Why do doctors have such long working hours?

Doctors NEED to work hours outside the “normal working hours” of many people, so those who need to see them can without missing work. However, one of the reasons I can see is that insurance groups will only pay them so much per visit. Check your latest EOB from your insurance company. If they want to get the pay that doctors USED to get, they must see as many patients as they can during normal office hours. That’s one reason it seems that so many seem rushed to get in to see you, to diagnose you, to tell you what you need to do, and to get to the next patient. So, long hours means better pay, and more patients who can see them in a given day.
