Why do degree-granting authority and accreditation matter to Pagans?
In the same way that we expect certain standards of education and experience from those who provide us with healthcare, social services, engineering, accounting, or any of a host of careers, our graduates will seek work in the real world, where public accountability, competence and ethical standards are required. Within our Pagan communities, we deserve the benefit of those same standards of excellence for those who choose to pursue Seminary education to support their spiritual service. Finally, the lack of an accredited degree still hinders Pagan ministers from serving as chaplains to our armed forces, and from entering many prisons and hospitals for chaplaincy work.
