Why do crime scene investigators need to learn psychology?

0

Based on an article that I have read forensic psychology is important for crime scene investigators so they will be able to do “criminal profiling”. Criminal profiling is about analyzing a crime scene and using the information obtained to identify the perpetrator. Thus, it is very helpful in narrowing down suspects of the said crime. The crime scene investigators will then do a personality profile of criminals based on the method in which the crime is committed. This is also called ‘method of operations’ or m.o. This m.o. includes the identity of the victim, what the victims have in common (in case of serial killings), weapons used, the level of hostility, if there exist (or lack of it) torture, and/or sexual molestation.
