Why do countries test nuclear weapons?

0

Countries test nuclear weapons for the same reason that lions growl and get into lunge position. The same reason dogs growl and lean in. It is an “I have what you have or better” type of thing. An “I can destroy you” type of thing.

They do not test because of the international treaty banning same. However, North Korea is not a signor to any U.N. or other agreement and therefore, can do what ever it likes. Mankind is already aware of the advantages of nuclear energy and it is not necessary to build or test a nuclear bomb to set up a nuclear reactor for power consumption purposes such as in nuclear power plants all over the globe.
