Why do Conservatives think that their personal beliefs should influence others?

I wouldn’t say influence. I’d say dictate. This attitude comes from a deep-seated sense of self-entitlement and arrogance. Conservatives are convinced that they have the one infallible truth and that precludes them from having to respect the beliefs of others. It’s a mentality shared by most religious extremists also. Once one is convinced they have that one infallible truth, the next step leads them to become convinced that they have the god-given right to impose it on everyone. Whether it comes in the form of a gay marriage ban, tossing gays and Jews into ovens or flying a plane into a building, it’s all based on the same attitude. It’s sad really. No, on second thought, it’s just pathetic.
