Why do Christians want indisputable evidence from science and none to prove the existence of god?
There is ample evidence for the Bible, for those who are truly interested in such information. The issue for the non-believer is that– presented 50 facts– he’ll find 1000 “other explanations.” The non-believer simply isn’t interested in believing. And thus far, no non-believer has yet motivated me to confront his dis-belief. I say “to each, his own.” Live and let live. If you do not wish to believe, I’m not going to hold a gun to your head and try to force you to believe. Paul said, “be ready with an answer.” I am ready, but you are not. If there truly was no evidence for the Bible, then no scientist would be a Christian. Yet we have astronauts, doctors, nurses, and other professional scientists who believe in God and the Bible.
I have this feeling that many Christians can’t really understand why they believe what they do. It must challenge the logical thought of anyone who has even a basic education. I’m sure that if there was definite proof of god’s non-existence then many of them would become atheists, or at least agnostics. Many religious people are so self-righteous that I think even if you put indisputable proof that there was not a god before them they’d go into denial. There is no evidence to substantiate what’s written in the bible. It’s myth and legend that some people love to believe is true.
Who says that we do? I am quite happy for science to do the science thing, as long as it is true science. I don’t care about whether science can tell me the origins of the universe or not. They can study it until the cows come home. What I object to is science pretending that they can prove the origins of the universe as being completely materialistic/naturalistic, and then further pretending that it proves anything at all about (non-existence of)God. Nothing based on the evidence of what there is can possibly prove that God doesn’t exist. It can only ever show how things work, and the marvels of creation. It can never prove that a higher being didn’t create it.
