Why do Christians hate the American Constitution?
We don’t. Some do, however, seem unable to draw the distinction between private faith and public policy. I am not opposed to gay marriage. It is against my faith, however, so I would never get one. Constitutionally speaking, everyone is entitled to equal protection under the law. If we view marriage as a religious institution, the government cannot legislate on it – no married tax benefits, no survivor ship, etc. If we make it a civil ceremony, the Church has no right to restrict it according to religious doctrine. We ARE NOT a Christian nation. We are a nation where Christians are a majority. I would not want the government interfering in my religion. Likewise, my religion should not interfere with the government.
