Why do Chinese emphasize and strongly use symmetry in their art?
Just because you find some examples of symmentry in Chinese art doesn’t mean they emphasize it any more strongly than other cultures. Symmetry is just one way of acheiveing an esthetically pleasing balance. I have seen many examples of Chinese sculpture, painting and printmaking that create harmony on many other ways. A profile image of a single dragon, for example, would be pretty near impossible to create with true symmetry. I am guessing that you have NOT made a particularly deep study of Art History or even Comparitive Art, but are merely making a very GENERAL observation from a very SMALL sampling of Chinese art. It is one of the reason that Art History is a requirement of most art degree curriculae. A professional wouldn’t have made that same mistake.
