Why do children like repetition so much?

0

I see my father-in-law repeating what he says to my babies over and over again. He also does that with my wife and I sometimes. And of course the babies also like to watch the same videos and TV shows over and over. I think it comes down to this: limited capacity for new information and being comfortable with routine. Think about it. For a baby, everything they see is completely new! That can be overwhelming. One reason they sleep so much is to let their minds process what they have seen and experienced that day. As they repeat experiences, they gain understanding and confidence. For my father-in-law, I think it just comes down to being tired.
