Why do cats live longer than dogs?
I agree that cats (about domestic cats) live longer. Currently, it is not uncommon for a cat to live 15-20 years, while dogs at 10-15 years are already quite old and display many signs of aging. I do not know exactly how it programmed into cats but in my experience there might be several reasons: 1. cats are resting comfortably for a long time while dogs live quite hectic lives both emotionally and physically. 2. cats tend to be sick rarer, maybe because partially because of #1 – they get into fewer troubles and they are cleaner (lick themselves so that not to smell at all to fool prey), in contrast , dogs employ different strategy – they are into dirt and germs (can be pathogenic) because they try to smell as environment while hunting (roll in feces) 3. domestic cats have much fewer inherited abnormalitis because they are not that inbred as domestic dogs 4. diet – owners often tend to feed dogs scraps of unhealthy foods – fats, artificially flavored food, bread (high carbohydrates), e
