Why do cats go walkabout and never return?
A few years ago there was a TV program about cats. It seems they have a set pattern of a walking route they walk everyday without fail. You would be surprised to learn that some of these routes are many miles long. During some of these walks a wild animal may kill the cats. Or someone will pick up a cat thinking it needs a home and will take it in. Other times the cats will go to another home and drink or eat food outside. The owner sees it and takes it in thinking it needs a home. Often the cats will return, but it might be several years later. But if your cat is old, it will walk away from your house and find a place to lie day and quietly die all on its own. Do not be sad. It is the way of the animal kingdom.
