Why do candles sometimes get club shapes on their wicks?

0

When a candle consumes more wax than the flame can burn completely, carbon can deposit on the wick (clubbing). This usually happens when the wick is too long. Blow out the flame and allow the candle to cool. Trim the wick (removing the carbon deposit) and re-light. Ensure that the wick trimmings do not remain in the candle.
