Why do Caitiff have a random mix of Disciplines?
Caitiff have no Disciplines, this is what makes them Caitiff. To be more precise, a Caitiff does not have an affinity for his Sire’s Disciplines, nor an affinity for any other Disciplines. Players usually start the game as Neonates. Characters who were embraced 15 to 25 years ago. Under White-wolf’s rules, it is assumed that most vampires will develop between 3 to 5 Dots in Disciplines during their first 25 years of existence. The Disciplines granted to a Caitiff character, represent the Disciplines he was able to learn from others (or teach himself) over the last 15 to 25 years.
