Why do blacks get along so well with Puerto Ricans and Dominicans but not Mexicans?
California (particularly LA) has a history of compounded racism… over there different races have always seen each other as rivals rather than potential “partners in crime”…. mexicans and blacks in LA compete for jobs and i suppose that creates some kind of animosity. plus the media paints negative pictures of both groups && so before they even interact they already hold negative views of one another. in the northeast blacks and latinos seemed to come together due to the close proximity of their neighborhoods as well as the presence of a large caribbean population who were used to racial diversity…. plus latinos in the northeast vary in race moreso than those in LA and often appear “black”. but i must say as a resident of the northeast that i have seen racial animosity between dominicans/boricuas && blacks.
