Why Do Black Americans Not Vote For The U.S. Republican Party In Large Numbers Anymore?
In the 1960’s and 70’s you had a political re-alignment. Democrats, capturing significant percentages of the black vote saw an opening, and geared their agenda towards issues which blacks found appealing. Meanwhile, Republicans, seeing a white, Democratic voter base in the South and southwest get increasingly uneasy with the new Democratic agenda changed theirs to appeal to those voters.
Because the Democratic Party was the Party of the Civil Rights Movement..Democrats marched with us, stood up for us, gave us the right to vote, stopped segregation, helped set up Affirmative Action so that we could AT LEAST have one chance to get out of poverty or get a job, were the party of FDR who started the New Deal which is why most of us are Democrats today because he helped us, were the party of LBJ, helped us. I know the South was Democrat back in Segregation times but It was LBJ who helped us and changed it and thats why the South is nothing but Republican today believe it or not and I know the Republican Party is the party of Abraham Lincoln but Lincoln didn’t care about blacks i mean if he cared he would have set us free immediately when GOT IN OFFICE and Lincoln freed us to try to stop the Civil War.
The Democrat party bought off black Americans with affirmative action, minority hiring preferences and other programs that benefit black Americans. OF course these programs are unconstitutional, but that has never stopped a Democrat politician. It is hard for black Americans to align with the GOP, as they are called race traitors and Uncle Toms by other blacks and sometimes by left wingers. It seems too, that black Americans favor the Socialism of the Democrat party more than the Capitalism of the GOP. that’s a shame, because a regulated Capitalist system is the best for the working man.
