Black Americans don’t believe that the white Americans alive today are personally responsible for slavery, however, most of us realize that the Jim Crow era is so recent in our history that many white people still hold on to the mentality that allowed the era to last so long. Most of the wealthy in America are overwhelmingly white AND older. Many of these people were either raised in the generation of white dominance or raised by people who were raised in that age and had black inferiority ideals pounded into their minds. So many white Americans use the argument that black Americans have had over 140 years to make something of ourselves when that couldn’t be farther from the truth. White families have had centuries to establish their wealth, black families have had roughly 45 years.
