they do not need bubblers, but they do need filters to keep the water quality good enough for them to survive in. they dont need bubblers because they have the ability to breathe air.

some poeple state that they dont need filters because bettas breath from the surface but a filter does not just oxygenate the water it also keeps it clean and bettas breath through their gills most of the time anyway.
