Why do barrels and cones appear in work zones with no signs of visible work?
FDOT and its contractors put up signs and place concrete walls, barrels, barricades and cones to manage traffic. These traffic controls are frequently left in place during the day, following nighttime work, to prevent motorists from driving on unfinished travel lanes. These traffic management devices also help protect crews who may not be easily visible to drivers.
