Why do athletes cheat?
Not all athletes cheat. But those who do, do it because they feel a tremendous amount of pressure to succeed. That pressure might come from their coaches, their parents, the organization they compete for, or from society in general. For whatever reason, they’ve been made to believe that winning is the only acceptable outcome, and that anything less equals failure. So they do whatever it takes to win, even it means breaking the rules. That doesn’t make it right. But it’s really a shame that so many athletes base their personal worth on the results of an athletic contest, so much so that they feel the need to cheat.
