Why do atheists take off for Christian Holidays?
~~~ Splinter ,,,, Apparently your Superpowers of Omnipresence or Omniscience have failed to acknowledge my own Altruism that I practice on a Daily Basis without the need for Holidays to inspire me. And you have taken it upon yourself to Display your Prejudice against an Entire Group by claiming we are all Apathetic on YOUR Special Days,,, And then you show your True Colors of Selfishness by trying to Goad Us By Guilt into doing “something nice” for YOU. It seems that I have learned the lessons of Jesus and you have yet to be taught. Your previous statement of “you don’t care anyway” is a direct Contradiction to your statement an hour later of ” I never said atheists didn’t have hearts.” This is NOT a matter of Semantics.
Why do Xians think that pagan holidays such as Easter and Xmas are actually Xian in origin? Also last time I checked, Thanksgiving wasn’t a Xian holiday. Saying grace before stuffing your face full of turkey doesn’t make it Xian. Besides, it’s a time to get together with family and friends and you don’t have to be Xian to appreciate that. And when I was working for certain companies I always requested to work on those days. Double time and a half to sit on my ***, eat free food the company sprang for and to play video games because it was completely dead. So I would be making over $60/hr doing absolutely nothing for 8 hours. I’d then head home to dinner with my family. You gotta admit, it was a good gig.
Back when I was working for a company and not for myself, I did volunteer to work on holidays. Double time and a half! Way more money on those days! Plus, nobody else in the office so I could get way more work done and listen to my George R. R. Martin audiobooks on my CD player instead of over my headphones! My family has always spent the evenings of holidays together, anyway, rather than the whole day – so I wasn’t missing out on any family traditions, either. Edited to add: Thanksgiving is not a religious holiday, by the way. I still worked on TG, though. MONEY MONEY MONEY!
