Why do Atheist say gravity is only a theory when defending there faith in evolution?
Scientific theory doesn’t mean theory the way, say conspiracy theory means theory. Scientific theory is why things that are fact happen. Scientific theory holds up to testing. Now, just because you’re under the impression that evolution means we jump species doesn’t mean you’re right. Evolution is observed and has been shown to happen. Just as gravity happens. Now, go open an 8th grade science textbook. A real one. Not one that says Creation Science or Intelligent Design on the cover or in the introduction. Then maybe you’ll understand how it works.
We can observe the effects of gravitation, but we need theories to explain why it works. Newton had a pretty good one, but it turned out it wasn’t sufficient to explain all the data. Darwin derived his theory from observations in nature, made during a five year round the world voyage. The fossil evidence was not anything he based his idea upon; it was the current biodiversity of this planet which led him to form his description of the way nature works.
