You have no idea how often this question is asked… Anyway, the characters are Japanese. You just see them as white because you’re used to that type of look meaning white. In American cartoons, the white Americans are portrayed with all sorts of looks that sometimes don’t even look American and then the Asians are portrayed as overly Asian. Big teeth, mustache, old, big hat, traditional robes, extremely slanted eyes, darker skin… Stereotypes. In anime, it’s the same. The Japanese are the ones with all the weird looks. But you can always spot the Americans… They’re the extremely tall ones with the guns if they’re male or the slutty blonde girls flashing their panties and suing everyone for harassment if they’re female.
