Why do Americans regularly run amok with shooting up schools, executing police officers and fellow soldiers ?
No one can answer that with any genuine authority. I suspect that its a bunch of individuals with mental health issues and when an event occurs then it triggers individuals with similar issues to do the same. The real issue is access to high powered weaponry. The American Constitution allows American citizens to bear arms as part of a well formed militia. Americans have chosen to interpret this as they can have any weapon they like at home. Good for them, but they have to be prepared to accept the consequences. If Americans really want to get serious about eliminating this issue then they need to bring in gun laws that allow them access to guns as tools and take away all the automatic weapons, assault rifles etc. So a farmer can keep his shotgun, the hunter can keep his bolt action rifle but the loony has to hand in his M16/AK 47/Uzi. The argument that only criminals will have guns then does hold a bit of water but so what, more Americans shoot themselves rather than being shot by crim
It is important to remember that USA has a population of 304,059,724 people. So in comparing the number of 2008 murders here [ 16,272 ] to, say, Mexico with its 106,350,434 population and approximately 5,500 murders, it is important to multiply mexico’s # x 3 which = 16,500 or roughly about the same as USA. Mexico does not allow private ownership of firearms but it does have a major drug war going on right now, which USA does not. I picked Mexico because it is right next door to USA and has many of its citizens living here, which may account for some of our murders since about 1/3 of our jail space is occupied by Mexicans here illegally. If we compare USA statistics with, say Switzerland, we’re comparing apples to oranges since Switzerland has completely different demographics with its small, homo genius population and of course every home has automatic weapons and Citizens are trained in their use. !: Schools, There are bullies in every school and they ride someone because they are different to the point that they go off the deep end, they either kill themselves or strike back to get rid of the pain. There are always warning signs which go unheeded. 2: 12 year old kids are killing 12 year old kids people don’t fear the police anymore these gangs and criminals are well armed and ambush authority very day. I was Military Police in the Military that was enough to keep me from making a career in civilian life. 3: Spent a year in Korea during the Vietnam era the Military Stockade was full of soldiers that killed or shot up the compound. The stress of war every day takes it’s toll. Many are kids some barely 20. they think they are invincible and it finally sinks in.
