Why do American call illegal immigrants aliens?
I always find it odd that USA tries to control immigration. Why are they trying to prevent immigrants? There’s lots of space in USA. It’s a growing economy – so they need more people. America was founded on entrepreneurial migrants. They don’t have a proper welfare or health care system to be abused. So I really don’t know why they are so rigorous. I’ll take the answer from Allen as an example, he says: “They’re draining our resources.” What resources can migrants be draining – the air? You don’t get anything for free in USA. So they have to earn a living – then they pay tax – they buy goods and pay sales tax – so they contribute in the same way as everyone else, and that expands the economy. I sometimes think the Government makes Immigration sound as if it’s a complicated administration process just to satisfy the home population.
