Why do American call illegal immigrants aliens?
Alien literally means foreigner. It comes from the Latin word alienus, similar to “alius” meaning “other” which relates to alias. Due to connotation, or people’s definition of it, I don’t think they should be called that because although the literal definition is correct, it still sounds derogatory. Sort of like the word moron that was originally used for people with low IQs, which is now banned for psychologists to use. I don’t even think they should be called illegals. That’s very offensive and it makes them seem worse than the citizens here committing serious crimes. You can say the got here illegally, but not call them illegal, that’s just wrong.
All immigrants, regardless of legal status, are refered to as “aliens,” meaning they are not “native” to this land. (Of course, if they want to tread down this slippery slope, no American is truly “native.”) What is ludicrous is the antis’ insistence on labeling all undocumented immigrants as “criminals,” essentially comparing border crossers to hardcore thugs con artists, whatnot, even though entering the country without proper paperwork is actually a CIVIL offense, much like a traffic violation. Should speeders & red light runners be now called criminals, too? They use the “criminal” tag to demonize practically all foreigners, though the bulk of their disdain is directed towards Mexicans and any other “visible” minority (non-white/caucasian) immigrant.
Firstly, the American Taxpayer cannot be blamed for it, and should not have to pay for it. A rotten Mexican Government is forcing the issue in a serious manner. Secondly, the issue doesn’t have anything at all to do with .. humaness. It has to do with respecting the American People, and the American Law, and they refused to do so didn’t they! Thirdly, you do the paperwork in your country of origin… you don’t wait until you get here and fill out a card and wait for acceptance. Further, when you do come without our permission, you don’t collect welfare. And finally, if you do decide to come illegally, you don’t come and commit crimes. Now the illegal aliens are doing all of the above as fast as they can, and you are demanding they get respects? I don’t think so. 47,000 illegal aliens were voting down in one country of Georgia alone. That is criminal, illegal, and very wrong. It would be nice to put anyone who votes illegally in a penal farm for a while. And they are called illegal alie
Got news for everyone that says the only true american is an Indian American, everyone that has been born here since they first set foot in this country is a native American, I am a native American so are my parents and my grand parents we have been here since the 1700’s. Let me know when you become an American. As to your question they can be blamed for it because they know the law, just like we know the law of the Mexican government they will not even permit you to own land in Mexico if you immigrate and only the good jobs go to their own Mexican people first. So if they come here illegally they are aliens to this country, just like we would be if we went to Mexico., or any other country.
First off, yes, they can be blamed for it! Nobody put a gun to their head and MADE them cross the boarder illegally. They CHOSE to break the law by coming here without obtaining a visa. If any of us had done the same thing in their country, we would be arrested and thrown in jail, then deported. Why should they expect any less from us? Burglars are not uninvited house guests. Carjackers are not under-rated drivers. Bank robbers are not making unauthorized withdrawals. Illegal aliens are not undocumented immigrants. Second, they are “illegal aliens” not because they are from another planet, but from another country. The correct terminology for the nearly 20 million persons illegally in the U.S. is illegal aliens. The term undocumented immigrants is purposely incorrect in order to sway the public in favor of special interest groups and only clouds the reality of the situation. Most undocumented border crossers never had a document to lose. The incorrect and understated implication is tha
