Why do aluminum chutes cost more than steel?
Our Ultra and SuperTuffLite chutes cost more up front but they are actually a better value than steel. Our chutes should last 10 years or more if properly maintained. The chutes have a replaceable abrasion resistant poly liner that has an approximate life of 10,000 – 15,000 yards. When the poly liner wears out. You simply replace it. A local concrete supplier has had our chutes in service for eight years thus far. When compared to the life of steel you will see they are actually cheaper. Not to mention safer because they are lighter, reducing fatigue and injuries. Our aluminum chutes with the abrasion resistant poly liner flow more concrete faster versus a steel chute. Clean up is easier because the poly liner doesn’t allow the residual build up like steel chutes do. The poly liner also has an insulating effect reducing the flash drying effects in hot weather and flash freezing in cold climates. As you can see the life expectancy alone makes them cheaper than steel. The other benefits
