Why do alot of people flame English anime dubs?
I am a person who hates most dubs. I may be an Otaku but I’m not a “Jap voice fanatic” I just want the story told to me correctly and not limited by the dub. I can’t stand an anime dubbed when I know it’s subbed because there are a lot of problems with dubs. I don’t care about matching mouth flaps or even the voice actors the problem I have with dubs is their inaccuracies. Even the best dubs have them. However like you I have exceptions I like Full Metal Alchemist dubbed more than I like it subbed (Mostly because the main character’s voice actors are top notch.Princess Mononoke has a great dub and I also love Gankutsou: Count of Monte Christo Dubbed more than the sub). I like dubs to some extent because I feel more comfortable when it’s in my own language and I also agree that there are some dubs that are just phenomenal but they really don’t hold up to something in it’s native language.
