Why do all the East European girls choke in the Slams?
In actual fact it’s only been recently that a lot of the girls from Eastern Europe have choked in the slams, led by the number one choker in the world, Dinara Safina. There have been a lot of all Eastern European Grand Slam finals in history, but of late it’s been all about the Williams sisters. Although to be fair, there have been just as many Eastern Europeans in this years Slam finals as there have been Williams. (Serena and Safina at the Australian Open, Kuznetsova and Safina at the French Open and the Williams sisters at Wimbledon.) I don’t know, although there are a lot of Eastern European girls in the top 100, the best players appear to be the Williams right now. However, give a few of them time and they’ll get a lot better. For example, Sharapova is still coming back from injury and will most likely find her deadly form in 2010, and there are many up and coming players from Eastern Europe such as Azarenka.
